From the first play, The Life of a Showgirl had me, an angst loving glitter gel pen hater, POSSESSED by the urge to dance around. And it only gets more fun with every listen.

And don’t even get me started on the amazing bass lines and THE ORCHESTRA

This album is a triumph

Taylor Swift wants to win. That is not feminine and it is offputting for a femme. She's not demure or apologetic. Taylor Swift wants to win.

And she does. She wins in ways that is not rebuked for a male artist – but it is for her.

Winning is a male trait Taylor Swift wants. And we hate her for it.

The award-winning novelist and veteran tech activist Cory Doctorow has written millions of words in his nearly four-decade career. Now he's best known for a single one: "Enshittification." How did he get here? My profile: www.nytimes.com/2025/10/05/b...

One great thing about being a modern student is the anxiety that comes with doing TOO WELL on an exam because now you’re afraid of AI accusations.

You.
Are.
Allowed.
To.
Insult.
The.
Police.

It’s a core First Amendment principle. This is utterly lawless behavior, for which there will be no (short-term) consequences.

That he does it so casually, as they are walking away, in front of cameras.

Rightly confident in his impunity.

ATTN: If you’re one of the 1,000 FBI agents who reviewed the Epstein files, feel free to reach out to me via signal (in my bio). I’ll keep you anonymous- as I have the thousands of current and former federal workers who have sent me tips. Please share this widely. 🙏🏻

Do you know how many “creative writing” assignments I had to redo in high school because they were “too imaginative?!?!?”

Obviously writing factual essays and citing sources is important, but if you want me to write “what I did over the summer” for the 100th time, expect some silliness

In case anyone is curious, I started standing for the pledge again around the time gay marriage was legalized.
As a queer teenager in Alaska, it felt like a sign that we actually were moving towards “liberty and justice for all.”

I really don’t believe the pledge belongs in schools though.

In JR high I went through a “I won’t stand for the pledge” phase and wrote a story where a tyrant took over but no one did anything because that would be “unpatriotic.”

My English teacher told me I had an overactive imagination and I just want to know if she would have graded me differently today

They never did end up asking me to unlock my device and, if they did, I would decline, but this was a preventative step in case I was not able to decline or something.

Always decline to unlock your device, but be prepared in case they do end up trying to do an illegal search or something.

Yeah, that is definitely true

The only time I saw Portland anywhere close to “war torn” was the summer of 2016 when the proud boys kept rolling in from out of town looking for protesters to fight.

And despite their constant aggressive instigation, the people of Portland continued to protest peacefully and live our lives.
