I’m appalled to see the new NPS policy for 2026. While visiting several national parks last November, the majority of the visitors were foreigners. Their tourism supports our parks’ preservation. Is the goal of this new policy to make the parks less profitable to justify privatization/exploitation?

There are reportedly 7 ICE agents in Juneau now. If that is true, now is a good time to familiarize ourselves with this:

I started my NOAA career in 2002 at the Northwest Fisheries Science Center and recently “retired” early for the reasons described in this article. So much passion and expertise lost. It is heartbreaking for the scientists and the ecosytems we worked to protect.

I was hoping a thin silver lining of the GSA being gutted would be that they wouldn’t get around to hanging the presidential portraits in the Juneau Federal Building lobby. I was wrong. These now greet me every day (for the few days I have left).

I’d guess about 1,300 people at Juneau’s protest today in front of the Alaska Capitol. Largest I’ve seen there since the women’s march and march for science during the first Trump term. Extra credit to the person who had a Greenland flag — not many of those in town, I’d guess. #akleg #Alaska
