This was nearly two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. Juneteenth is celebrated with various activities including parades, festivals, and family gatherings, and has been gaining increased recognition as a federal holiday.

Specifically, it marks the day, June 19, 1865, when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce that the more than 250,000 enslaved African Americans in the state were free.

Until they’ve proven they can handle that, I’ll continue to support seasoned, experienced Democrats who’ve shown they know how to lead, legislate, and navigate the complex realities of public service. #RIP #REPGerryConnolly

The reality is, many of these so-called "rising stars" still have a lot of growing to do. Governing isn’t about charisma or trending on social media—it’s about competence, strategy, and the ability to deliver under pressure.

That’s how leadership transitions happen—through action and earned trust, not entitlement.
