A few songs on their debut are about Paddy McAloon rinsing his competitors in the UK music scene, this is what I mean about declaration of intent, “playing for blood as grandmasters should”. But it ain’t bragging if you can back it up!

They wrote a song called “Goodbye Lucille #1” that never mentions Lucille, and when it was released as a single for “Steve McQueen” the label made them call it “Johnny Johnny”. Instrumental version so you can behold how tight this band was.
