Most things are a little at least

After the second pour, I can confidently and unironically say that this is bourbon of the year, hands down.

I am, however, going to enjoy a second pour tonight. Marry holidays, folks.

If you’re a lover of good bourbon and you can find one, treat yourself. Sadly, I’m only seeing it on secondary market for $250-300+ at this point. Last year’s release is pulling anywhere from $750-1000 these days, fwiw. This bottle will last me at least 5 years. Special occasion only.

Don’t get me wrong, every one of them mentioned is good, but almost none of them are what I would call “Best of 2025” except maybe the Old Fitz. And to lead off with JD 14? Truly unserious article. There are so many way better whiskies out there.

Lots of people evacuated in the low laying areas, levees are failing, lots of people lost everything. We’re all ok here for now, but if y’all have anything to spare I’m sure there are some mutual aid crowdfunding sites already up and I know they could use the help.

This was really my only direct concern, as I am at the top of a pretty big hill and flooding isn’t an issue here. Landslides are still possible, especially with the ground as saturated as it already is, and more rain on the way. But these trees are at least 40 ft high, and more in the front.
