Avian Flu in Dairy Cows H5
California added one herd and cleared many on 20feb
-991 total dairy herds
-419 infected/quarantined
-329 cleared quarantine
-748 ever infected (~75% in 180+ days)
Nevada added two herds and is at 50% in 80+ days
Colorado was 60% in 110 days
February 27, 2025 at 3:30 PM
How did seasonal migration by birds in Colorado, Nevada and California affect the local dairy industry?
Birds = lines
Dairy = dots
Red is Colorado
Green is California
Can you spot any alignment of any kind
.............between dots and lines

Iowa-Ohio-Pennsylvania are in Drought
February 17, 2025 at 5:20 PM
The Arizona herd is much like the tightly grouped herds of
1-Colorado Weld County
2-California Central Valley
3-NorthWest Nevada
Significant drought/dust, close proximity, shared bird flocks, uncovered lagoons used by wildlife and then pumped from to water cattle (barn spray)
February 17, 2025 at 5:20 PM
The lazy, unqualified-to-perform-their-jobs-staff at USDA and APHIS who got laid off over the weekend decided they would still work on a Sunday to update data on Avian Flu which is placing a risk on protein supply for all Americans
Two California and one Arizona herds added
February 17, 2025 at 5:20 PM
Probably could explain how Flu moves farm to farm during drought hopping a ride aboard dust or soot particles shielded from the sun?
…just a thought
As drought spreads across Midwest farmland yet another summer
Spread in birds=spread in herds?
February 17, 2025 at 4:59 PM
Colorado and California
Avian Flu, Birds and Dairy Cows
Note the time of year? Migration
Note the alignment of cows and birds in Colorado?
Note the alignment of cows and birds in California?
If barns are similar and if in a drought, then expect birds to transfer to cows this spring or next fall

Avian Flu in Cows
BovineH5 B3.13 and now D1.1

California (green) - added one more herd B3.13

Nevada (red) - added 6 herds since 31jan2025
(and a possible 7th) all D1.1 variant, new to cows
Local birds (Starlings) in Northwest Nevada are being poisoned to try and contain the spread.

The US is having a double FluA wave...
Odd...
Here are some states views

Ottumwa, Iowa
Ground Central for First FluA spillover in Spring 2023?
Unknown, but its hard to miss the two waves per year of FluA in Iowa aligned with migration of both Birds as well as harvest staff
Wait and watch as data from Government is slowly choked/edited to zero
February 8, 2025 at 8:15 PM
Note: wastewater predicted this double wave 4 weeks ago
for a lot less cost than testing everyone

Hopefully @WastewaterSCAN is allowed to publish data which alerts us to these waves of illness far faster than the US Government normally allows
and for less Doge… I meant cost

2024-2025 is a double wave
now higher er visits than 2009 pandemic
Also higher than Covid for age 0-4 and for age 5-24

Both age groups are the lowest recently vaccinated in the US against Flu or Covid but that’s just coincidence…
February 8, 2025 at 8:15 PM
Then 2020-2021 age 0-4 bore the brunt of the wave as no children were vaccinated until 2022/23
February 8, 2025 at 8:15 PM
2019-20
Age 0-4 was rising since week 29 and continued rising right up and into Covid. Age 0-4 also spiked in summer 2020 and continued rising right into fall
February 8, 2025 at 8:15 PM
2018-19 age 0-4 was the most visits to the ER
Note the odd rapid rise during August and September 2019 (week 29)
February 8, 2025 at 8:15 PM
2018-19 was also a double FluA wave year…

What do these Double waves have in common?
Children are the most infected as a percentage of visits
February 8, 2025 at 8:15 PM
FluView is a weekly publication which (so far) will be allowed to publish even if the data is not positive for Trump administration

Key historic data
1- double waves of FluA have happened before
2008-9 Green
2009-10 Pink
2018-19 next slide
2019-20 Orange (Covid?)
2024-25 Red

Where is the Avian Flu H5 wastewater peak inside the US?

On the Eastern Seaboard...
Newark, New Jersey to be exact

What city/state recently shut down all live-chicken-markets prior to this weekend?
New York....
...concrete jungle where dreams are made of H5?
February 8, 2025 at 8:15 PM
So in Spring 2023, we see a spike in unexplained FluA in wastewater in Iowa and other states..

Then summer in Canada/Alaska

Then late winter2024 we see a spike in unexplained FluA in wastewater that goes all summer

Then in late winter2025 we see a spike in unexplained FluA in wastewater…

This coast (San Francisco) as well

It’s a double top season so far in many US cities.

Any read on the 4 straight wastewater positives in New Jersey?
February 3, 2025 at 5:47 PM
California Bovine H5 Avian Flu
3 herds from the 10december Los Angeles Area outbreak went positive (confirmed last Thursday)

No new positives (or results or data) from Monday's tests

Southern California got some rain, hopefully more this week

Should see 10-20herds clear today from Central Valley

The H5N1 in UK doesn’t concern me.

The cat in Italy does concern me.

Reports of sick cats on US farms in February 2024 was the first sign in Texas, then Kansas, then Idaho, Michigan, Iowa, Minnesota, California
January 27, 2025 at 6:15 PM
USDA resumed reporting H5N1 after missing the first day in a very long time on Friday.
726 herds
748 tested
More Los Angeles and further south herds positive

Still none North of San Francisco (wet ground?)

California updates cleared herds today at 1-3pm (currently 162, but rising over 180)
