Snorlax and for my posts for the time being. I'm not sure if I'll be back to do more of these, but I'm not dismissing it entirely. If I do comeback to do more highlights, they likely won't be as frequent but let me know if I should. With that in mind, thank you for your time and Smell Ya Later!

Overall, Snorlax is very much a Pokémon to consider for a player's final team with overall amazing stats and a wide move pool that allows for many winning sets and stat builds in Gen 1 and in Gen 3, it is a fantastic physical attacker and special tank for any trainer in need of one. That's it for...

In Gen 3, Snorlax gets better, though isn't as great as it once was. Just like what I said yesterday about Gyarados, Snorlax isn't as good at using special attacks as it once was, but in exchange, it gets access to new and more powerful moves such as Brick Break and the Ghost type Shadow Ball.

can (and likely will) beat it to a pulp before it can even move. That being said, Gen 1 Snorlax is considered a competitive king for a reason, as its HP is so high, it has a chance to survive 1 super effective hit and hit back with a super effective attack against many of the opponents it will face.

lie mainly in the fact that it's slower that molasses and is physically frail. This means that it will (not can, I mean will) be out sped by just about anything it will face, it won't be scoring as many critical hits as other Pokémon in Gen 1 due to crit mechanics and any Fighting type it will face

terms of out of battle utility, Snorlax has the ability to Surf over water and has the Strength to move heavy boulders, meaning it earns a place on the team for those purposes in addition to being amazing in battle. That doesn't mean Snorlax is free of having weaknesses though. Its shortcomings...

name a few. Another notable thing for Snorlax in Gen 1 specifically is its access to the moves Amnesia and Psychic. This is significant because these moves allow Snorlax to raise both raise its Special (attack and defense) by two stages and attack with the best type in the game respectively. In...

a very wide move pool, a trait shared by some of other Normal type in the Kanto Region Pokedex (some Normal types have wider move pools than others). This means that Snorlax's final move set can consist of a variety of moves from the Normal, Fighting, Water, Ice, Electric, Fire and Ground types to..

to be desired, but overall Snorlax is very solid for the time the player encounters it. One thing that should be noted is Snorlax's Normal typing and the reputation that comes with it. Put simply, Snorlax's Normal type means that it only has one weakness (that being to Fighting type) and that it has

story. Once captured, Snorlax will be an asset to the team should the player want to add it. Put simply, Snorlax is incredibly bulky, having an extremely high HP stat as well as having excellent Attack and Special (defense) that will get even better with time. It's Defense and Speed leave something

captured. This means that both Snorlaxes will disappear forever if not captured, so saving before engaging maybe a good idea. To get either Snorlax at all, it needs to be woken up using an item called the Pokeflute as both are sleeping in the way of paths the player needs to traverse to continue the

Found in only two areas of the Kanto Region, Snorlax is a very rare Pokémon in the original games. It should be noted that any encounters that are manually engaged in the overworld rather than encountered through tall grass will disappear and not respawn regardless of whether or not the Pokémon is..

great until Gen 4. That's it for Magikarp and Gyarados, tomorrow I'll be highlighting a Pokémon that was considered a competitive king back in Gen 1. Tomorrow is gonna be about Snorlax.

type attack Bite and (more importantly) the Ground type Earthquake that gives it something to check Electric types that want to fry it to a crisp. Overall, Magikarp is very much a pain to raise, but Gyarados makes worth it with amazing stats and a wide move pool, even if it doesn't truly become...

mind though, Gyarados is still worth the investment in Gen 1, but it does have some issues to be mindful of. In Gen 3, Gyarados got better overall. In exchange for no longer being able to use Special attacks as well as it once did, its move pool expanded even more to include moves like the now Dark

the Water and Flying type combination may give Gyarados some good type resistances and an immunity to Ground type attacks, but in Gen 1, Gyarados doesn't learn any Flying type moves and its typing gives it an extreme weakness to the Electric type with no way to counteract that weakness. With that in

battle utility in being able to Surf across the water, having the Strength to move heavy boulders and the ability to climb Waterfalls (even if that last one isn't relevant in Gen 1). That being said, Gyarados still has some drawbacks, and the most prominent one comes from its typing. Put simply...
July 31, 2025 at 9:53 PM
Unlike Magikarp, Gyarados has amazing stats to hit hard on both attacking fronts and take special hits well. Its move pool is incredibly wide, being able to learn many different moves including those from the Water (obviously), Electric, Normal and Ice types. In addition, it has some good out of...

twice as long to grow as other Pokémon until level 15 when it gains the move Tackle, which it'll be using with it's pathetic Attack stat of 20! Speaking of the number 20 though, if a player can get Magikarp to that magical level, they will be rewarded with a physical attacking monstrosity, Gyarados!
July 31, 2025 at 9:42 PM
the player's party is around level 10-15 and still growing. If a player wants to use Magikarp, it has to be sent out into battle and then immediately switched out for another Pokémon so that both get half the experience one Pokémon would've gotten from winning by itself. This means Magikarp takes...

commonly referred to as the Magikarp salesman. The price for it is pretty cheap and for good reason, as it is obtained at level 5 and only has 1 move to use at that level, Splash, a move that does absolutely nothing in battle. To make matters worse, it has terrible stats and comes at a point when...
July 31, 2025 at 9:28 PM
Gonna start by say this now, this might end up being a highlight about Gyarados instead because there really isn't much to say about Magikarp in either Gen 1 or 3, it's just that bad at base. The earliest it can found is in a Pokémon Center just before Mt. Moon, being sold to a player by an NPC...

the name of balance. That's it for the Abra line, tomorrow I'll be looking at Magikarp, a fish that is certainly more than meets the eye, if you're willing to put the time and effort into bringing it out. Until then, Smell ya later!
