Just tried it on my usual bike route and it was almost perfect! Took the exact side roads I take (where there is no infra). Only goof was it didn't correctly get off the Bayers MUP and onto Abott, and instead directed me onto Bayers.

Google Maps basically has me ripping down Bayers the entire way 😆

I used to run a pi-hole w/ Tailscale but after I upgraded my home network (new router etc) I didn't want to futz with pi-hole .. lost all context (of course, didn't document the home project)

Thankfully NextDNS has been an even better experience.

Wonder if there's a correlation here w/ ads & tracking, which has absolutely exploded in recent years. I don't observe the same jerkyness w/ Chrome, but I also use NextDNS to block a lot of traffic.

I don't think it's just that, but maybe contributes!

Our bike ride to school (and back home) now includes multiple stops so my daughter can observe "her favourite" halloween decorations (note: she has many favourites 😁)

My favourite bus-only lane experience to date has been taking the bus from Montreal airport into the city. It's 95% dedicated lane and the traffic was absolutely brutal. Flew right by!

It is really, really bad out there right now. No patience, lots of aggression. I don't get it. But I guess that is my privilege.

Popped into the Halifax Tool Library and got myself a membership. What a fun space! So many tools! This is great.

Thanks @danp.net for the recommendation! First job, fix my kids’ Nintendo DS 😀
THE DECAPITATOR Tools More tools!

Nice! There is also folks contributing to OSM. I like that there are multiple efforts and different approaches. (Mine has been taking photos on my runs/or in movement and then using the metadata to help plot it on the map)
justbartek.ca
Are you also plotting bike parking? Lol. A few of us doing this! Here’s my entry to this: justbartek.ca/hfxbikeparki...

This particular spot is on Dutch Village beside Westerwald

You could technically block the "Reels" section on your Facebook feed using various Chrome plugins like adguard.

So likely what's happening here is because you don't do TikTok and perhaps other video related social media you are getting the lowest common denominator of video. Basically, there's not enough data on you to know your interests.

Which .. is good? But also makes the internet more shit!

But clearly today, someone was hit during gridlock rush hour traffic. I was almost hit at Yonge/Robie this morning (walking). Drivers are extra today!
justbartek.ca
It is really bad! I used to cross this almost daily for daycare related commute. I don't miss it.

The only saving grace is indeed this is usually grid locked so drivers notice you. In off hours less so!

#BikeHfx parking so new it’s still under wraps! (Didn’t know they wrapped these things during shipping 😄)
A single bike parking spot bolted to a sidewalk. It had protective wrapping.

If I take the Cogswell bike lane home (from downtown where I sometimes work) I have to climb a terrible hill, but it’s so worth it to bike on this very pleasant bike lane.

Honestly the Cogswell stuff is great. I love it! So much space back to humans.
A multi directional bike lane, side walks, and what seems like a concrete bus pad.
justbartek.ca
Right on, thank you!
justbartek.ca
Thanks Waye! This is helpful context. Would there be any publicly accessible indication that a temporary sidewalk permit is in process? How would one find that out?
justbartek.ca
Yeah, for sure. Thank you for all the context. I'll snap some better photos next time I am there (very soon) to sort out, at least for myself, where transit stops and such have moved (I know there is one near there)
justbartek.ca
Incredible that our excuse seems to be "well we've not had many developments before lmao so i don't know what we should do 🤷"
justbartek.ca
If that is true, I am genuinely surprised this development has nothing of that sort, given its size and length of time. It's going to be in development for many years.

Removing a passage for pedestrians, transit users, and cyclists.
justbartek.ca
Oh, thanks! I think I understand now.

So as it stands there's no requirement for accommodations (whether that be a new crossing or jersey barrier'ed sidewalk), and it's reviewed on a case by case basis, and accommodations may be added after-the-fact if concerns grow?
justbartek.ca
"that effort was geared towards accessibility"

Sorry, not sure I understand, likely misreading. Wouldn't that mean providing some walkable pathway?

Per your second point, you may be right! There may be nothing to support pedestrians in the linked stuff.
justbartek.ca
It also is clearly blocking the (already poor) painted bike lane, but I don't think the motion applied to that.
