Children bear the brunt of spousal visa rules in Britain. For the first time their voices have been heard and acknowledged in the MAC review into family immigration policy in the U.K. We are calling on the Labour government to follow the advice laid out in the review and put families 1st again.
We also want to thank @wearecoram.bsky.social for the child-centred interviews they conducted on our behalf which were submitted to the MAC and we hope informed their findings related to the negative impacts on them, often the biggest (and most hidden) victims of this policy. youtu.be/y6WGZ4jOdxE

The Migration Advisory Committee report has criticised Tory spousal immigration policy calling it “illogical” in parts. It also lays bare the devastating impact the current system is having on families, especially the mental health of British children. Incredible work by MAC and @rfuk.bsky.social
Today is a pivotal day for bi-national couples and families: for the first time people on the spouse/partner visa route were listened to by a Committee that wanted to learn what life is really like when you want to live in the UK and were moved by what we read in the report #FamiliesBelongTogether🧵

Families belong together. @rfuk.bsky.social are asking politicians, peers and the public to sign this pledge to support immigration policies which make family reunification easier, not harder.

Will you sign?

The fuss being made about 0.3 per cent of millionaires leaving the country if a wealth tax was introduced, while we’re facing the reality of 30 per cent of doctors considering leaving in the next year...

The idea of native invasive species didn’t really register with me until last year when I was reading about a type of Acacia in Kenya. It’s spread caused by similar factors to those of purple moor grass. The list of things to worry about just grows exponentially these days.
