Democracy is eroding in Turkey under President Erdoğan. Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu is jailed on political charges, while CHP’s Özlem Çerçioğlu—facing criminal cases—was pressured to join the AKP. This is not justice. This is coercion.

The dictatorial government in Turkey uses the judiciary as a weapon. Mayors in provinces where the opposition party has won are arrested on charges of corruption. It is a real irony, because the biggest corruption is committed by the #akp.

#FatihAltayli, a well-known journalist in Turkey for many years, is arrested simply for expressing his opinions in a speech that upset #AKP Regime.
Under #Erdogan's regime, anyone can be arrested at any time. There are no legal rules or logical consistency.

I just can't imagine anyone thinking it's okay to arrest a mother who has just given birth. There is no legal or moral justification for such cruelty. However, this happens quite a lot under Erdogan's Regime.

Many soldiers arrested after #July15 denied their statements signed under torture. Some were threatened with rape of their wives. Allegations are not investigated and rejected statements are still used. #ErdoganRegime's judiciary destroys lives.

General Öztürk, labeled as the coup leader, received 141 life sentences. The council urged his release and compensation for unfair trial.
