Secret BBC filming exposes hidden culture of racism and misogyny inside Met Police
Panorama undercover investigation captures evidence that

The police cannot self-regulate. The Met must publicly & unequivocally accept the Casey Review's findings - that it is institutionally racist, misogynistic and homophobic - and the gov't must urgently review how police accountability can be improved. [3/4]
justicehq.bsky.social
While the footage is shocking, it is not new: repeated investigations document systemic failures in how police treat racialised communities and women, and warn of a culture of institutional defensiveness - something the documentary shows remains deeply entrenched. [2/4]
justicehq.bsky.social
Last night’s Panorama documentary exposed clear racism, misogyny, and a culture of impunity within the Met. This endangers the public and fundamentally undermines trust and policing by consent. [1/4]

We welcome the Govts position that human rights law should apply to outsourced children's care. But recent legal developments suggest this may be at risk and a law change is required to provide certainty for children in care. [3/3]
justicehq.bsky.social
Human rights law lets children (& their families) hold providers directly accountable for rights breaches & improve public services. The Human Rights Act is a crucial safeguard & should apply to all children, no matter how their care is provided. [2/3]
justicehq.bsky.social
Around 80% of children's homes are run by for-profit companies, but there is uncertainty if the Human Rights Act always applies to them. This week Peers debated this and we provided a detailed briefing. [1/3]

Too often, families who lose people to public disasters like Hillsborough and Grenfell face defensiveness, not answers.

But the Public Office (Accountability) Bill is a vital step towards truth, accountability & justice.

This is a moment for leadership. The govt must commit to long-term, properly funded reform to build a justice system that works for us all (5/5)
justicehq.bsky.social
These much-needed reforms will also fail without probation investment. £700m more funding & 1,300 extra officers is welcome - but it’s a baseline not a ceiling.

Giving probation officers the time, tools & training to manage risk & support rehab will cut crime & save money (4/5)
