This week, as part of our D&D showcase at Gen Con, we're showing off the new Starter Set: Heroes of the Borderlands. This is the starter set we all wish we had when we began playing. 🌞

If you're at the convention, come on down to Lucas Oil Stadium and check it out for yourself. #dnd #WOTCstaff
A copy of the new starter set rests on a table in the D&D booth, which features art of the chonky red dragon Themberchaud.

Today is the release of Stranger Things: Welcome to the Hellfire Club! I couldn't have asked for a better adventuring party on this one.

Last week, we Wizards gathered to celebrate the set at the office. We hope you have as much fun with it as we did. 🎃 #WOTCstaff #dnd #strangerthings
A copy of Welcome to the Hellfire Club on my bookshelf. It's surrounded by D&D books. Me and several staff members pose for a picture at a table in the office strewn with components from the boxed set. We are happy! Me and Kara Kenna, Franchise Creative Director, on a blurry set of Stranger Things.

These keep-inspired instruments are such a delight and full of little nods to the Keep on the Borderlands. With four instruments to choose from and four characters in the starter set, you have everything you need to start a band with your fellow party members!

Amazing work.

Drumroll.. 🥁 It's new art!
More work for D&D Heroes of the Borderlands!

AD : Kate Irwin
Painted picture of a medieval drum, with drumsticks. Little horsemen are painted on the surface of the drum in a children's book style, riding parade horses.
Painted picture of a flute. The flute looks also like a jousting lance, with a flared base and a banner attached to it.
Painted picture of a lute. The lute has tower paintings and designs on its body, and it sports colorful blue/teal painted elements.
Painted picture of a violin. The pegbox and scroll of the violin create the shape of a horse, and the F holes are in the shape of horseshoes.

I'm so glad you like them! I can't take all the credit, though. These wouldn't be possible without the heroic efforts of Matt Cole and Trish Yochum, two of our graphic designers, along with designers like Ron Lundeen who kept them on track as components shifted throughout the dev process. 🌞

Another encounter card for D&D Heroes of the Borderlands: Jacko the Spy

AD: Kate Irwin
A gnome rogue with tan skin and black hair sneaks menacingly through marshlands with cattail plants. The moon is glowing behind him and barely illuminates his inky black leather armor. His hair is slicked back and he wears eyeblack. He holds a dagger at the ready.

This is my favorite commoner art ever. I love the implication that the bread functions as a club. #WOTCstaff

One of the encounter cards I did for #dnd Heroes of the Borderlands.

Thank to AD Kate Irwin for letting me include the "biguette".
An elderly woman in the shadow of an entry to medieval courtyard. She looks at the viewer with a grumpy expression and is holding a comically large baguette. She is wearing a long, dark purple skirt with a matching shawl tied around her hair and shoulders. Her shirt is light blue. Don't mess with her!

Thank you for bringing this little D&D fairytale to life!

Hey I got to illustrate chapter 2 of the D&D Dragon Delves book! Written by
@justiceraminarman.bsky.social, it was such a perfect thematic and tonal pair that I still can't believe it's real.
Cover of the D&D Dragon Delves Adventure Anthology book. Flatlay of the D&D Dragon Delves book showing an illustration of a green hag holding two worried gingerbread cookies that look like adventurers. Artwork on the left page and text (for the adventure) on the right. Flatlay of the D&D Dragon Delves book showing a character illustration of an elderly halfling on the left page surrounded by text. On the right page is a small map of a candy shop surrounded by text.

We all swooned over that adorable goat when the art came in! All the sketches we received were similarly delightful. 🐐

Made with ingredients from our garden! The eggplant dip was especially tasty.
A spread of Persian food rests on our table: turmeric chicken, rice with tahdig, yogurt, shirazi salad, and a green dish with eggplant dip. A close up of the eggplant dip (kashke bademjan)

Fulfillment is now underway for the Cosmere RPG! We've sent PDFs to all backers, and books started shipping this week. So now seems like a great time to celebrate the awesome team behind this project.

This is a LONG thread, but please read (and share!) it anyway, because this team deserves it. 🧵

Recorded my first performance with video for my class yesterday. I got compliments from the teacher!

(I look cooler than I sound. 🙂‍↕️)
Me playing my electric guitar, a dark cherryburst Epiphone Les Paul, in my office. The sunlight is hitting the wall behind me, illuminating my bookshelf. I have headphones on and look cooler than I ever have.

I didn't buy it!

...but maybe when I have finished my blues course...

Spotted a really rad guitar this weekend. The f-hole is shaped like a cactus, and it sparkles like the night sky when you look inside! Made in a one-man shop using sustainability sourced wood from felled urban trees in California.

🎸: Tone Ranger Guitars
A Broadcaster-style guitar made from California redwood. It has a vintage, Old West feel and turquoise dot inlays.

I haven't finished it yet, but this is one of the best books I've read in a while. As someone who has struggled deeply with existential dread since the ripe old age of 9, it is also extremely relatable. And morbidly hilarious.

I'll answer with two questions:

1. If your character didn't have this feat, would you consider making an OA against an ally when they leave your reach?

2. Which interpretation of this feat is better for your table and the stories you want to tell?

Ultimately, #2 is the only one that matters.🌞 2/2
justiceraminarman.bsky.social
Hmm! The Opportunity Attack (OA) entry in the rules glossary and the War Caster feat do indeed say "a creature" and not "an enemy." But the OA section in chapter 1 in the PHB says you put yourself in danger of provoking an OA by moving "heedlessly past your foes."

However... 1/2
#WOTCstaff
Combatants watch for enemies to drop their guard. If you move heedlessly past your foes, you put yourself in danger by provoking an Opportunity Attack.

Congratulations on your first time DMing, and for the young 'uns no less! I hope all had a great time. 🌞
