I understand wanting to believe that we should be allowed to choose the perfect tailored experience for ourselves as players, but knowing when/where to restrict choice is one of the most important design decisions in a developer’s hands.

Dark Souls creates much more interesting options instead.
Part of me feels like Dark Souls wouldn't have caught on if the first game had difficulty settings. It'd be "cheap", "pointless", etc.

Arcade games had a relatively granular difficulty option via credit feeding and it played a big part in them written off as "button mashers"/"quarter munchers".

It’s strange seeing toys I would have loved in 1993 appear in stores in 2025. But I’ll take it!

There is more significant design innovation between Resident Evil 4 and the Resident Evil 4 Remake than we have seen so far between Metroid Prime 1 and Metroid Prime 4.

Seems like lots of people don't mind MP4 looking like a level pack, but I was really hoping for more after all this time!

This is one from a few years ago that I never got around to editing. I didn’t realize at the time, but this ant is missing an antenna. I guess that explains why he was wandering alone.

Yes, I may have just pushed a lost, doomed ant onto your feed. Sorry! 🐜
