Do you work in conservation science, particularly outside the U.S.? Did you lose your job or funding for your job because of cuts to U.S. federal agencies? Do you want to talk about it? DM me please. (This is for a @biographic.bsky.social story)

Came home from a workout, found a pink-tongued skink on the doorstep, and ate some tacos. 10/10 for a Tuesday.

Also FYI the # of threatened animal species referenced in the comic (>150) is now more than SIX HUNDRED. (And for plants it's >1,400. So maybe pour yourself a drink with that cake.

It doesn’t take much digging to realise that Australian wildlife is in crisis. But without these folks putting their blood, sweat and tears (literally) into their work, we’d have lost so much more already. #wildoz

But for #ThreatenedSpeciesDay, I want to take a minute to appreciate the scientists, conservationists, land managers, & Traditional Owners who are putting in the hard yards for our wildlife.

I trapped Tassie devils & mountain pygmy possums, listened for night parrots, learned about grassland restoration on Cape York and rice agriculture the Riverina, collected platypus eDNA and played with koala detection dogs.

I’ve spent much of the past 2 years thinking about threatened wildlife: searching for these species, spending time with the scientists trying to save them, and writing about the experience.

If you love wildlife, your feeds are probably full of #ThreatenedSpeciesDay stories: tales of hope, eulogies to the species we’ve lost, and cries of rage at the fact that the Australian government is still failing wildlife. #wildoz

Met some new (and very curious) friends over the weekend! 🐋 We stopped 100m away but they decided to come closer and say hello.

Agendio has been my go-to for a decade. They're not cheap but they offer an overwhelming amount of customisation features, including a lot of vertical/column layouts and heavier gsm paper for those fountain-pen dorks amongst us (myself included).

First earthquake! Surprised it took me this long. The windows were rattling for a good 20 seconds
