What's Behind the Wild's Improved Penalty Kill?
Drink if you’ve heard this before: the Minnesota Wild have a penalty-killing problem. It wasn’t always like this. Before the 2020s, the Wild were synonymous with good shorthanded play. It made sense, ...

Brazeau talk, and wild playoff certainty talk. The Lamestream Wild media wants you to think they are in danger of missing the playoffs. Sad!

Please don't listen to anybody telling you the Wild are at risk of losing their playoff spot. Vegas has them minus-6000, meaning you'd need to bet $6000 dollars to win $100 on that ticket.

Barring a cataclysmic failure, they're in

After looking at the Brazeau tape, I'm coming around a bit on the trade. I see the vision.

Why was Brazeau benched, and can he become a system fit under John Hynes's #mnwild ?

The Wild are definitely OK to make the playoffs in my opinion, even before making two deadline buys.

Average Minnesota Wild injury progression
I was in a no-contact jersey (limping around) at warm-ups (my house) today. Likely won't dress for the game tonight. Might be downgraded to week-to-week.
I may have slightly sprained my ankle today going on a very ill-advised hike down an extremely steep partly-snow-covered wooded hill to see some cool plants. Out day-to-day.

I wrote about the Marat Khusnutdinov trade - seems crazy that the Wild gave up the only asset with staying power and still had to add Lauko and a 6th.

My thoughts:

Marat Khusnutdinov, We Hardly Knew Ye
“Asset Management” is something of a hockey-writer buzzword. Usually, it’s a euphemism writers use to say they didn’t like something a GM did. In this case, that’s partly true. However, along with tha...

Trade thoughts:
-Nice to consolidate a crowded bottom 6
-#mnwild get the best player in the trade in 2024-25
-Bruins getting the highest ceiling in Khusnutdinov (future mid-6 center)

On a personal level, I'm going to die. Marat is gone way too soon, and this trade barely moves the needle this yr

For those concerned about the Wild making the playoffs, this model is designed to account for injuries better than most and essentially shows that they're in.

7 West playoff spots locked up, and three teams vying for the final wild card.

LTIR + a major acquisition would not be a bad strategy in MN

Wild have problems at the top of the lineup in this checklist, which is not a surprise given Guerin's team-building strategy.

Remains to be seen if their depth can make up for it in the playoffs, where top players max their minutes.

They're called the Wildcats, a ragtag crew of flunky Midwestern trans femme tweens coached by a self-centered finance executive (Rachel Sennott) forced to return to her hometown by the ailing health of the team's last coach, her father
Tommy Tuberville: "We're getting to a point where women and girls sports are getting ready to be extinct. Because already in states across this country, we have high school teams that are made up of totally boys participating against girls."
