I puzzled over this old photo of newspaper on the walls, 1930's era kitchen. Some sources claim, it was cheap insulation, but one sheet? I'd seen walls stuffed with it in abandoned farms, made more sense.
Someone said, it's really to absorb condensation! Makes more sense
