My guess is since subbed usually was out months in advance before dubbed but depending on how popular the anime is that timing shortens. I can go either way. I’ve seen dubs that I thought were better than the sub and visa versa. I watch which ever has the better voice acting.

I fully get how hard it is. I do retro repairs and sometimes could take weeks/months to get it gone. Most of the time I just donate it back to goodwill or Salvation Army hoping the next person that gets it doesn’t break it.
