Yeah exactly. The players were inventing UB for decades before WotC made it official, we could just never actually play with the cards we made to represent our favorite stories.
I think there's enough frustration with the Universes Beyond sets that aren't high fantasy or sci fi to make a "high fantasy Magic", but the actual Universes Within purists who can't stomach D&D or LotR or FF are a very small minority.

the later seasons where all the characters have to keep going on the same character arcs they did the previous season while opening progressively smaller lore mystery boxes nested like dolls feels like everything wrong with modern television.
