But if you are cheering on bully tactics and the undermining of our constitution, stand against social justice in any way, and/or believe that some people don’t have a right to security or to self-identify just because of who they are, you are not a true American patriot. I said what I said.

By all means, stand up for what you believe in, engage in civil discourse, research the opposition, and keep an open mind. If you discover you have been misled about something, own your mistake with humility and let others know what you have learned.

Whether you align more with red or blue, we are all being fed lies- some of which are more damaging than others. The truth is somewhere in the purple middle. No one is completely immune to misinformation so we all should do our best to stay vigilant.

While the recipient organization is subject to change, I decided to start by supporting @indivisible.org I recently found this organization and admire their approach to grassroots activism. As they have recently been targeted in tweets by Elon, it seems the work they are doing is making an impact.

I encourage everyone who is feeling negative emotions about the behaviors of our elected leaders (and many who voted for them) not to carry their shame but instead, to find things to do you can be proud of and inspire others to do the same. We are all in this together.

Though I am not immune to misinformation, I am proud that I am becoming ever more vigilant in researching and vetting my sources. I am proud of everything I do to the best of my ability, big and small, to stand up for what I believe our country is supposed to represent.
