Finish Majoras mask on stream.

Once again similar to OoT the cinematics are great.

I do think that the devs had the thought that players would always want to look everywhere and turn every rock to get every mask.

That is fine, it was not my way of playing and I did get punished for it a few times

Played Samba Di Amigo on stream today.

I am not a rhythm game gamer, but I enjoyed my time all the songs are certified bops.

The year 2000 has taught me one thing:
Dreamcast stays winning not gonna lie .

Finished Paper Mario 64 on stream today.

This game is so fun, I loved all of the characters’ dialogue, the boss fights were challenging in the later half but still manageable with my build.

As someone whos main paper mario experience is ttyd this game blew my expectations out of the water.

Finished Shenmue on stream.

There is something special about this game. It feels like a snapshot of an era in all the right ways.

While it does have a lot of downtime it makes the player enjoy the characters and places around them, through dialogue and mini games. def worth a try if you haven’t.

This game has fun snappy levels and a lot of different moves and gadgets so you can approach the game from different angles, the Quality of this game goes beyond its years.

Watched “The Sixth Sense”.

A great film even if you are expecting an M. Night twist.

I still think that the last scene with Cole and his mother is peak writing and acting.

Watched “The Cider House Rules”.

Watching all of these late 90s movies makes me want a pager so badddd.
January 28, 2025 at 11:43 AM
Watched “American Beauty”.

Showcases some “standard amerocan family” stereotypes and shows that often these are lives lead by people who have completely checked out mentally.

some very uncomfortable scenes however that sense of dread and second hand embarrassment carried the movie for me.

I finished playing The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

This was my first time playing through this classic and while i did struggle with the controls for a bit its an easy hump to get over.

The cinematography of the cutscenes are insanely expressive and dynamic and hold up now in my opinion.

Watched “Shakespeare in Love”
January 23, 2025 at 3:22 PM
I finished Klonoa: Door to Phantomile

A fun platformer that has excellent music.

Gamepkay is a good mix of puzzle solving and some parkour platforming that is constantly evolving as more and more items, obstacles and enemies are introduced to the player.

As I exit 1997 my favorite movies in no particular order :
Contact
Good Will Hunting
Full Monty

Onto 98!
January 17, 2025 at 10:28 AM
Watched “Fifth Element “.

This movie was had a lot more comedy than I remembered. It was filled with a lot of one off jokes that either hits or misses the mark completely.
January 15, 2025 at 7:52 PM
Watched “Men in Black”

This movie was funny and has a lot of memorable scenes.

The alien designs are really cool and interesting. Edgars the bugs design was one that I really enjoyed.

Watched “Contact”

A science fiction film that speaks on the importance of both science/technology and cultural belief systems in our society.

Enjoyed watching and discussing scenes in this film. It has incredible long shots and some very nice visuals too.

Watched “As Good as It Gets”

This romcom is very much a time stamp of the period.

All three main casts do a particularly good job at expressing their roles.

The moral of change and life continuing on is one that is always an experience and this movie tackles it from three perspectives.
January 5, 2025 at 3:20 AM
Finished play Crash Bandicoot 2 : Cortex Strikes Back

Playing Crash always feels like meeting up with an old family member. I have a blast with all the best parts of the gameplay, movement and expressiveness in Crash.

There is something in old games like this that is hard to capture nowadays.
January 4, 2025 at 8:12 PM
Watched “L.A. Confidential “.

A great Noire film with some great scenes that do paint a picture of what types of corruption flows through places of power like law enforcement, while also showing that those who mean well can still lose themselves in said corruption.
January 3, 2025 at 7:02 PM
Finished Final Fantasy 7.

This game really does deserve the hype. When story beats are happening I am constantly engaged, all the characters even supporting casts or one off jokes are amazing.

that being said arcade sequences and the grind are a bit tedious at times but still overall amazing.
January 3, 2025 at 6:59 PM
Watched “Good Will Hunting”

This film has an excellent script. stellar chemistry between Damon, Skarsgård, and Williams.

I think that the each scene can be dissected for pages on end for both meanings made by the filmmaker and ideas that the viewer may be able to formulate using their own life.
January 2, 2025 at 8:00 PM
Finished playing Star Fox 64

Playing through this game makes me wonder why Nintendo doesnt do more with this franchise, the arcade shoot em up style would work wonders in a more rogue like approach especially with how they did routing for missions.

If you haven’t tried it I would recommend you do
January 2, 2025 at 3:00 AM
Watched “The Full Monty” (1997)

This comedy does an excellent job of feeling natural and making us connect with these down on their luck blokes who are trying to make a quick buck through a more than unusual way.

highly recommend this film if you enjoy watching character interactions.

Started my dive into 1997 with “Titanic”

a very acclaimed movie for good reason, with its runtime you are able to have a good romp with the cast while constantly being reminded of the dreary end that awaits the ship.

My only gripe is with the framing narrative which I found unneeded.

Just finished Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

This game is what all metroidvanias thrive for. You let the player loose into an environment and have them run from area to area looking for upgrades and secrets
Doing all of this with little guidance gives the player an incredible feeling.
