I was born in a burning house.
Where every ember of emotion coaxed the
flames to climb higher.
Where every kiss left a scar, and every memory left ashes.
The house has long decayed
Leaving smoke filled lungs,
And blistered skin.
So why am I still burning?

Even as my love sunk its nails into your flesh.
Leaving desperate scars adorn your skin.
Only after my nails were broken, and my hands were bloodied.
Did I realize my skin lay intact, while your hands remained clean.
