Are you feeling vine?
I did a research paper for this during college recently and I'm convinced this is where the real power of a.i. is not gpts. There are some pitfalls, if you feed it in data that supports existing structural biases it can be very bad and not do the thing it is supposed to do and get around human bias.

legitimately the first slice of life Juri I've seen in basically forever. A lot of people get weird with her but she's just a grumpy girl at the end of the day. Thanks.

They eat it up because it takes all of the things that let them win in iv and are more in their wheelhouse of experience and how they want to play with none of the nuance 4 or even 3 provided. Thats why you see top players going back to their favorite in the franchise so often. It's a pale imitation

Back then there was a vocal minority that hated 5 because it wasn't 4. It was too balanced with fewer option selects and therefore stressful at higher levels of play. They fixed most complaints after three seasons. SF6 otoh is just bad SFIV no matter how you slice it. But its new so advantaged.

Have a lovely new year, and I hope you join me in eulogizing so we can move on from this dead fossil of a party. And if not please learn more about the past to come up with your own answers! They are out there waiting for you.

As a historical counterpart Amos Adams Lawrence said, “We went to bed one night old-fashioned, conservative, compromise Union Whigs & woke up stark mad Abolitionists.” in 12/31/25 I'm going to bed a Democrat and Waking up a Progressive. It's time we fight for whats right. It starts at home.

With the increasingly autocratic motions and the segregationist actions perpetrated... As someone who truly loved the Democratic Party and its flaws... I think to me it is dead. Yes this has been a eulogy in disguise. A personal one. But I think admitting its dead is the first step towards rebirth

But also my investigation of history and really understanding the depths of depravity that was post-reconstruction America and the huge body of evidence in the economic sciences that happened over my life time prooving Keynes right and so many trickle downs wrong.

I think it's important to look to history for what breaks your current realities rules and investigate why it was able to happen. As for myself, I was for a long time a very economically centrist, civil rights focused, Democrat. Both Trump administrations tested that.

2026 will either be the Maga like slow death from the inside out of the Democratic party, or a Whig like death. But the status quo was dead two elections ago. Never say it can't happen. It literally happened and in an era with way slower communication!

Honestly, I really recommend this reddit thread that summarizes this fossil of a party to see how eerie the similarities really are. www.reddit.com/r/history/co...

I used to think of this in terms of how the Tea Party changed the Republican party, but honestly the change was slower. It was never a good comparison. Instead now I look at the current gap between the establishment Dems and the populace. If enough people believe the brand is dead, it will die.
December 29, 2025 at 2:51 PM
I think of this and a quote from my AP History textbook often "We went to bed Whigs and woke up Republicans." The blistering speed at the death of the Whig party was basically less than a year with only a few hold outs. When the collective realizes a brand is dead... It dies.

The Whig party was the party of compromises and decorum. See the connections? The Whigs of yesteryear are our Democrats. But what became of the Whigs why do we not speak of them now? As Edward Stafford inn the 1860's put it “The Whig party died of too much respectability and not enough people”
December 29, 2025 at 2:51 PM
It is rarely remembered or touched on that America used to have a political party with the same name as a British party. The Whigs were meritocratic, presidential power hating, anti-manifest destiny, anti-populists. They were a law and order party, but not like you might think.

Oh and yeah it also disrupts the industry pipeline for training up new talent. Placeholder stuff used to be the job of junior members or random stuff for because it was lower stakes and aided the creative process. GenAI replacing that is bad and harms the creative process replacing the deliberation.
December 23, 2025 at 12:41 PM
Come on guys we obviously know that analogue machine learning and procedural generation are not the same thing as genai. They almost never use stolen intellectual property and they don't undermine the worth and value of creatives and technical talent. The people who don't know less about game design
December 23, 2025 at 12:38 PM
Yes the biggest issue is plagirism. Placeholder text and images are not acceptable unless generated without theft. Yes it is a labor issue, it makes the creative process more opaque and easier for employers to devalue the effort and work of. AI should never replace any part of the finished product.

So many things about this article irk me. This is the first I've heard Clair Obscura being made with genAI in its process. It asks some pretty easy soft balls as it's 'we really gotta sort things out with precision and it seems people dont have the answer' as if the answers are hard to get.
