It will be interesting to see, though, just how much of what he campaigned on he'll manage to get done. There are a lot of people who hold higher office than him who seem to be very determined to obstruct him fairly significantly

It’s anything BUT odd when you think about who was directing people to burn the witches
August 17, 2025 at 3:39 PM
It’s fun to randomly say things without actually backing it up
August 10, 2025 at 6:36 PM
You got me. I actually clicked to see what it would do. Time for bed, I guess

Don’t believe everything you read. American media (both traditional and social) gain eyeballs by sensationalizing lots of things. The US is not sliding into authoritarianism. Donald Trump is an imbecile, not a genius authoritarian mastermind

I mean, not really. It’s failing in certain ways but not in the same ways that communism failed under Stalin, for example
August 7, 2025 at 3:32 AM
Hypothetically, what if I don’t want to work for the betterment of my neighbors under communism? What happens to me then?
August 7, 2025 at 3:29 AM
The amount of “watch me think I’m doing something impactful while not actually accomplishing a god damn thing” is kind of mind blowing nowadays
August 7, 2025 at 3:21 AM
I so very much want to use this but my mental model is very much set with the “load”/“action” combo. It’ll definitely take a shift to get used to loading data async like this again

Probably a bit more than 3600, amirite?
July 29, 2025 at 3:14 AM
It may be semantics, but I don’t know that it “echoes locally” as much as it’s that there’s someone in office who is actually doing what the people elected him to do. It’s almost as if he’s a reflection of the people, not the other way around

Not sure which is more concerning

I don’t think anybody thought he was qualified. I just think they thought Kamala was even LESS qualified

In other news, water is wet

For what it’s worth, the exact same thing happens when something favorable happens for Trump; cnn and msnbc will not cover it. The reverse was also true during the last administration.

That said, the men’s players get 50% of REVENUE of ~11.5bn so in theory it shouldn’t matter if the wnba is profitable or not. They should get 50% of the league’s revenue

It looks here like 27 out of 30 teams reported an operating income.

this makes me so sad...
July 20, 2025 at 6:25 PM
also you seem extraordinarily negative. nobody is forcing you to respond. at no point in time have i been disrespectful to you. i really don’t know where this energy is coming from
July 20, 2025 at 6:06 PM
yes every person has bias. i would imagine you, like most of us have an inherent mistrust of major corporations. another interesting thing is your seeming acceptance that there are news organizations out there that are actually unbiased at their core. i mean, i guess that’s more naivety
July 20, 2025 at 6:06 PM
this response tells me you think there _are _ unbiased news sources out there. i used to be young and naive once, too. ah, the memories
July 20, 2025 at 3:14 PM
i mean, it's based a _little_ in reality. i can't think of one news organization that's out there that is actually unbiased. there's no money/ratings in being unbiased and reporting the news.

fox and newsmax gave up pretending to be objective. others have not yet.
July 20, 2025 at 12:54 PM
i'm not trying to offer an opinion on npr. i'm making an observation that is interesting to me.

holy hell, simmer down a bit there, friend. put the guns away for a bit. not everything needs to be a "you're wrong because of this"
July 20, 2025 at 12:44 PM
The interesting thing is that npr wasn’t left enough for you but for the people who just voted to defund it, it was way too far left already. Might not be interesting to you but it is to me. I didn’t listen to npr in the lead up to the election so I don’t know about what they did or didn’t do
July 20, 2025 at 12:02 PM
They’ve been doing this for years
July 20, 2025 at 4:52 AM
It’s interesting to see the comments here. Republicans defunded NPR partially because they saw the leadership as having too much of an obvious liberal bias to warrant funding

And seeing the responses on uber liberal bluesky indicating that they weren’t far enough left

That’s it. Just interesting
