There should be a technician on hand to take over in case something goes haywire. You can't hold the computer accountable for mistakes because it hasn't got the capacity to care about what it's doing.

Oh absolutely, *but* for a vehicle that doesn't have a fixed track (like trains) it requires a substantial amount of management, and therefore shouldn't be automated. I could see automating I fixed rail vehicle, because the amount of management would be significantly less but even then 1/2

The only truly moral use of automation is to do tasks that put people in danger, cause injury (like repetitive motion), or absolutely require a level of precision than humans can't sustain. Also automation / AI should never make management decisions as they can't be held accountable.
