I figured that out when I looked it up after seeing the movie. It felt weird to me to go through all this trouble to update a bunch of things for modern times and leave that alone. It's probably why the prologue left me flat.

That whole bank scene felt like it could have been lifted wholesale from a 70's blaxploitation film.

The prologue to me was kind of a mess of underdeveloped women characters and ideas about political activism that felt 50 years out of date but the movie does pick up when it moves to the present.

I gave up on it. It was pretty bad.

Marty is the least interesting and most unlikeable character in the movie and I was disappointed when he didn't tear a rotator cuff and try to blame it on his opponent.

The entire second half of the film is pointless. The actual plot is essentially over when he doesn't check his mail.

I've contended the hero of Marty Supreme is the Head of the Table Tennis Organization who is the only one who successfully stands up to his BS and escapes the movie unscathed.

Oooh, excited to see you on this. Congratulations

I've recently seen a number of movies like Marty Supreme. "Black Comedies" about selfish destructive protagonists where I have far too much empathy for the secondary characters to find anything remotely amusing.

The best story in the Blade Runner universe is the 1997 PC Game. It's better than the original movie.

Will Ferrell needs to make a shot for shot remake of Cabin Boy

This is why at a certain point I stopped giving a shit about motive. To assign a motive really did nothing except provide cover to some pundits by convincing the public that "They didn't actually believe this, it's just an entertainment show"

I think you could take this as a sign that primetime television airtime no longer has any real value or cache.

I can't think of a time in the last 30 years when a network would hand over primetime to this

If they have any benefit they are cheap to make and flattering to guests.

I often get a thing now where I know a show is good but I can't imagine a time where I'm both in the mood to watch it and have the free time.

So Deck the Halls is just an older version of Tap the Bottle?
