Urban Planner. Lover of modernist architecture and the K8 kiosk. Currently researching the history of the BT's disappearing range of KX Phoneboxes. Woke. Whovian. Dad.
Salvaged this CD from the car door pocket yesterday. What with all the Disney and Bluey* CDs I never get to play my music.

Late to the party, tracks 5+6 on the demo CD... C'è Martin la / Maggot Brain...Beautiful new oldskool vibes.

Merci AIR

* Bluey's electro funk is entirely my music...

Spring time. And time to get the KX telephone kiosk goodies out of the shed.

Hey, I've an idea. When something works just fine, and has done for decades without any complaints, you don't need to reinvent it, change it, or ruin it. 2025 vs 1975, below. @prestonbusstation.bsky.social @nse-latchmere.bsky.social @doublearrow64.bsky.social @cwunews.bsky.social #standbyyourpost

Please hold the line...

So, we're into the final days of proof reading and cross checking references, figure nos, pages, text and formatting. The #KX200, #KX300 and #KX400 docs are ready, and I'm halfway through the 34 page #KX100.

The revised and updated KX DataPacks will be released soon.

Q: does researching the KX kiosk range include sourcing and indexing all material within which they appear visually, regardless of format?

A: yes, from my latest auction purchase it would appear so.

Hidden from view, trapped in a building site for months, this lonely Mancunian KX+ is cut off from the world... despite being a connected working phonebox. #FreeTheKX+

Finally finished updating and overhauling my DataPacks for the KX telephone kiosk range. V.4.0 now contain more photos, new and expanded information, a couple of technical corrections and some new sections. Now being proof-read, launching in a couple of weeks. #KX100 #KX200 #KX300 #KX410 #KX420

Thanks for writing this John, it helped motivate me to research the KX range and write my information packs on each of the types. V4.0 of the DataPacks launching soon, and overarching book about their design origin well under way.

Missing you. Alas, West Kirby stn has lost its #KX200D booths from the platforms. It was there last April, visited today and found the patch of death... The KX200 hiding at Spital stn has also been removed in the last couple of months 😢 I did find an extra KX300 nearby though!

Obvs my posts clearly won't all be phonebox based, because that would just be weird.

Watching TV with the kids just now and they spotted this in the Disney made #Amphibia animated series. It's only a wanted posted for bloomin #FeathersMcGraw That pesky penguin!

In June '24 visited the only known BT #KX420 payphone kiosk north of Bristol, at Bache Station in Chester. Phone was long gone and I'm now told the booth itself has been removed 😢

Signage within BT frame on fence was in Welsh. There are only around 10 of these left in UK, and only one known #KX410

From April'24, Urban Survivors of the Triangular (technically hexagonal) #KX300 BT phone kiosks in Liverpool (mk.1 flat roof panel mount and mk.2 pillar mount) and St. Helen's (mk.2 pillar mount). None featuring the door and all in need of a clean and some tlc (or handset).

Platform for Art. In April 2024, I visited a surviving paired mk.1 #KX200D phone booths in the Wirral and a mk.1 and mk.2 #KX200 in Chester. All were on railway station platforms and all sadly without phones. However, they were still proudly wearing their BT piper Pan livery from 1991.

Visited in July & Oct 2024. 3 of the 7 Mk1 #KX100 kiosks at Crewe Station (there's also a lonely mk2) all in well kept 1991 Wolff Olins Pan era BT livery. Crewe Station is gr.II listed, so the KX are technically protected by that designation. @c20society.bsky.social @englishheritage.bsky.social

In July 2024, visited this mk2 #KX100 with raised roof and single panel rear in Earlestown, outside the Newton le Willows RM Delivery Office. Has surviving 1991 Phonecard branding. Phone worked, 01925 224 385.

Migrating my KX posts over from the decaying birdsite.

In April 2024, in praise of BT's disappearing KX phone boxes, I visited Chester Station to see the pair of KX200. However, on the way found this rare flat roof, multipanel back Mk.1 #KX100. @c20society.bsky.social @englishheritage.bsky.social

What on Earth is the former CEO/head of ITV/C4 and previous High Cancellor of Gallifrey doing singing for Doctor Who. Is Michael Grade trying to make up for past deeds?

Thank you to whoever bothered to get the numberplate made to the correct specs for the 1970s. That little attention to detail makes the difference. Old cars in historic dramas with modern narrow lettering like Gene Hunt's Quattro, tut tut...

A gargantuan effort all round. Every episode of classic who that's been uploaded appears to have audio description, subtitles and on-screen BSL signing. This is epic. Thanks everyone involved
