I wanted to break down the concepts more and bring up examples throughout the story, and connect them to concepts surrounding the loneliness epidemic and community but i lost motivation. I'd still love to talk about it if anyone is interested!

Dokja is not a people person. He’s an introvert that finds it difficult to talk to even one person at a time. This is something that is moreso illustrated in the novel than in the manhwa. However, in those one on one conversations, he is able to build a rapport with people. He’s witty, smart.

Being a reader, or rather being the type of reader that Kim Dokja is can be an isolating experience. Using fictional worlds as a way to escape a harsh reality is not shameful- can even be necessary- but when reality is eschewed for the fictional, it can make communicating with others feel difficult.

What’s the point of trying to talk to someone who won’t understand you, who doesn’t see the same world as you do?

"It is impossible to truly and completely know another person. Someone’s motivations, no matter how clearly articulated, will always contain something undefined and unsaid. Even things that you might deem objective, like colors or sounds, can be perceived differently by different people.
