Saint Vitus - Born Too Late (1986)

With a different vocalist, their overall tone sees a bit of a shake up, and while I do still prefer the debut, it is a nice step up from the previous album.

Bozoru Bear - The Ending Orchestra (2026)

This is an early album of the year contender right here.

Saint Vitus - The Walking Dead / Hallow's Victim (1985)

Not as amazing as the debut, but I did still really like this one.

EXXÛL - Sealed Into None (2026)

Very enjoyable power metal. Definitely felt epic.

Polaris - Home (2002)

Pretty good. I wasn't fully head over heels with it, but the song "Slow Motion" was incredible.

Cocteau Twins - Victorialand (1986)

Definitely the most ambient leaning album from Cocteau Twins so far, and I’m all here for it.

Fulgor - To Be One With the Stars... (1993)

Very raw, very lo-fi, but also kind of beautiful black metal. Idk how else to put it lol

Amnoliac Teastone - Thamagolda Sequence (2019)

This one is very strange and also very noisy. I liked it tbh.

Amnoliac Teastone - Animatronic Fluidity (2018)

Ehh, this one is just ok. Nothing super noteworthy about this one.

Meat Puppets - Out My Way (1986)

Crazy how one song off of this EP is almost as long as the entirety of In a Car. It's definitely a sign of the band's sound expanding beyond just hardcore punk.

Oh yeah, it's pretty great too.

Meat Puppets - s/t (1982)

Pretty much the same energy that you'd find on the In a Car EP but stretched to a 21 minute long album and mixed in with hints of what would become their trademark sound.

(I typed this over 12 hours ago and never posted it wtf? lmao)

Meat Puppets - In a Car (1981)

Extremely short (as in this EP is only 5 minutes long), but it packs a punch.

Ulver - Teachings in Silence (2002) (forgot to post this yesterday lol)

The dark ambient passages were pretty cool, but I honestly don’t have much else to say about this one.

Ulver - Perdition City (2000)

Another really great album from Ulver. This time they play around with trip hop, and I say it works really well.

Ulver - Themes From William Blake’s The Marriage of Heaven and Hell (1998)

Black metal purists be damned, this album is honestly awesome. Very odd at points, but it all sounds very cool for the most part.

Ulver - Nattens Madrigal (1997)

One of the most savage black metal albums that I've heard so far. I still prefer the debut for having more bells and whistles attached to it, but this is still pretty awesome regardless.

Ulver - Kveldssanger (1996)

Great dark folk or neofolk or whatever tf you wanna call this album. Even early on in their career, Ulver definitely showed they had a fascination with genres other than black metal.

Cocteau Twins - Head Over Heels (1983)

Ok, this is starting to sound like the Cocteau Twins we all know and love. It still leans into their gothic rock tendencies, but I'd say it works here.

Cocteau Twins - Garlands (1982)

It's overall good, but it's a definitely a case where the artist is still trying to find their sound. Doesn't help that by the second half, I kind of get tired of listening to it.

NEW MEXICAN STARGAZERS - pockets of interest (2026)

Really enjoyed this one. It's a very dreamy ambient album that has a lot of color in it. Definitely give this one a listen if that sounds intriguing.

Stygian Hollow - Self-Titled (2026)

Don't have a whole lot to say about this one. It's a pretty short album, but it does sound nice, so yeah.

November Letters - There's a Dead Bird in My Eye, and I'm Always Looking Past It (2024)

Very pretty and sometimes ethereal emo music. Listen to the remastered version, because that's the version I listened to lol
