It is the same world but combat is much easier because there are just 3 directions+stab and there are some quality of life improvements like load outs. The quests are more interesting and Henry is more skilled so even though you start with no money and injured, you are more competent.

In kcd1 you're supposed to run u till you train enough and get enough gear to be decent.

The first one is so much more difficult and hardcore than the second though.... There are lots of people who love kcd2 and didn't get anywhere with kcd1....

Kcd2 is much more approachable so if you dislike kcd1, skipping it and playing just 2 is a valid option... I liked kcd1 but it was definitely more hardcore.
