So if during WWII someone said “these internment camps are un-American!” your response would be to remind them of other horrible things our country has done instead of….idk keep the conversation about how awful this is and it needs to stop?

I think you’re underestimating what martial law would mean. Curfews, actual military in the streets, checkpoints, no one in or out of the city, etc.

But this is different. Our fascist government is trying to goad us into being the violent ones.

There was however, a bunch of right wing agitators who went in and started the vandalism and violence.
The chargers were filed two days after the riot and there’s no reason to think that if the protest had stayed peaceful that Chauvin would’ve never been prosecuted.

They never announced that no charges would be filed. The original protests were a. Because we all saw a cop murder a black man and b. They lied about it and it appeared there would be no consequences and c. This keeps happening
