sure, but doesn't the term "metroidbrainia" tend to be applied to more unusual games (often ones that mess with genre expectations)?

maybe part of the categorization problem is that those games tend to be quite unique... probably no one can make another Fez or another Return of the Obra Dinn (but another Myst is fine somehow)

(probably meant to say "push" rather than "create", since I'm sure that narrative is nothing new)

I saw that, and this might be a weird take but the "procedural-" in that disclosure worries me. It looks like they're trying to blur the lines and create a narrative about "AI" being no different than the procedural and randomized content that's always been used in games...

When they released the first version of Stable Diffusion, they bragged in their blog about compressing all the images they scraped down to 4 GB, or whatever the size of the model weights was. (I bet they deleted that text from their website later.)

I was thinking about that when playing the game Hades (I haven't played the sequel yet). Overall the art is amazing, but a lot of the details are kind of weird/vague if you look closely, and I wonder if people would avoid that now because it looks too much like AI slop detail?

For coding, I keep seeing people say things like "it turned a week's work into two hours" when obviously they don't know how long it would have taken without AI, and perhaps a more experienced person could have done a higher quality job without AI in 30 minutes.
