Due to the unique way Super Mario Bros. stores its maps, its level designers were at the mercy of the decorative hills and bushes when placing bottomless pits. While the pits can be placed freely, the decorations are non-negotiable and dictate the level design.

Makes for a spicy narrative but that isn't really the case. They were already on their way out to discard the digitized sprite style as this game was in development at the same time as MK4 since everyone was going 3D. Mythologies was meant to be the tie-in game to the then-upcoming arcade release

In Yoshi's Island, a "tongue overflow" glitch exists whereby Yoshi's tongue is able to fly away and begin gaining infinite length, overwriting the game's memory. The tongue-based corruption can have any number of effects, including skipping to the credits and ending the game.

The issue was less with her playstyle and seemingly with you not recognizing the boss's tells and mechanics, which you have already seen before by that point.

Additionally, Wuk Lamat in this instance plays nothing like a tank, she's purely a DPS that happens to have a couple WAR combos
