Many white Americans see MLK as a “Black Holiday”. Indeed it does celebrate Martin’s work for basic rights and equality for African Americans. But his fight was also about civil rights for all. What is more American and rooted in our country’s origins than that?

Was a carpenter for several years in the 00s. I was already leaning towards socialism but that work solidified it. Most of the guys were Dems or independents. All hated Bush/Cheney. Although we weren’t a union shop the owner paid well, gave us a profit sharing and matching retirement plan
