What I think is quite problematic here is the lack of transparency. Don’t get me even started on the topic of working with classified or sensitive materials in the *private* Transkribus space just to find out that at the end of the day it’s not private.

Who doesn’t love reading feedback from grant applications’ evaluators that contradict each other? How the same project can be deemed very feasible and clearly planned and at the same time not sufficiently planned to judge its feasibility. 🤦‍♀️

I realized recently that in 10 years of teaching I don't think I've ever asked students to pay for a textbook for a class -- largely due to these excellent draft chapters of Jurafsky & Martin.

At #TEI2025 the opening keynote Jadwiga Kita-Huber emphasizes the need for universities in Poland to recognize digital scholarly editions as research for the faculty and scholarly community! This is serious research—and this needs to be respected!

For screen readers to recognize headings, heading text can't just be body text or normal text that's been made to look bigger and bolder. It must be formatted as a heading. In Microsoft Word and Google Docs, this can be done in the styles box. In HTML, use the tags h1 through h6.
