And in their first public statement- the league told us: “the ball in no way made any contact with the cable.”

Since '99, the kicking ball prep had more restrictions than QB ball prep. Officials brought the K balls to the field & teams only had 60 minutes pregame to work on them. For yrs, coaches have been talking about making the Kball process consistent. What changed this yr?

Everyone saw the missed false start here, but listen closely to Hurts' cadence and the sounds coming from the DL.... that's potentially a 15-yd penalty for disconcerting signals- a new part of the defensive evolution to stop the tush push

ESPN has obtained a message the NFLPA sent to players Wednesday night- clarifying that the league's ban on smelling salts ONLY applies to clubs providing the ammonia inhalants to players. Meaning... BYOSS.

the arbitrator did not find sufficient proof that the cardinals, ravens and broncos had colluded to restrict lamar jackson, kyler murray or russell wilson from getting full guaranteed deals... and lol at the comment about russell

this July 2022 exchange btwn Chargers owner Dean Spanos & Cards owner Michael Bidwill is the most revealing discovery in the decision ... Spanos says that Bidwill's latest deal with Murray - which was not fully guaranteed- will help him the following year with Herbert...

and again when former union exec director De Smith testified that Robert Kraft told him that Goodell told Kraft to raise the "problem" of guaranteed contracts in Aug 2022 meeting with owners (both Kraft and Goodell denied this in their testimonies)

Goodell shows up twice in the decision, one email to league VP and general counsel Jeff Pash agreeing that the MC should emphasize guaranteed money as "a big concern that this will erode a key aspect of our CBA that resisted guaranteed money.."
June 25, 2025 at 12:49 AM
the arbitrator found that the MC, the league's office administrative group "with the blessing of the commissioner" encouraged teams to reduce guaranteed money in veteran contracts but that owners were not all aware or participating in the scheme bc they weren't paying attention
June 25, 2025 at 12:49 AM
some thoughts on the decision: part of the weirdness of the ruling, that there was encouragement from the league, but that it wasn't collusion, stems from the standard of "clear preponderance of evidence" which the arbitrator writes is "unusual" and not further defined

The level of deception associated with a 6th rd pick is why I love the draft. Raiders GM John Spytek told me he didn’t bring Tommy Mellott in to visit bc he didn’t want to broadcast their interest- & that comment about his kid and Jeanty was strategic too!

We as media and fans are shocked by Shedeur still be available day three but I haven’t gotten that same sense of shock from team sources. That story gives context to why that is.
April 26, 2025 at 3:23 PM
Last week I wrote about why Shedeur Sanders was a complicated prospect evaluate- one scout called him "the
most difficult QB case study” and another told me some teams felt they couldn’t use their usual formula to evaluate him as a person.

behind the scenes: Shedeur Sanders chose SamBurrows, CU soph equip asst. to snap to him at his pro day and warm him up after establishing a great rapport with her during the season. He liked working with her so much that she flew to every road game & spent her spring break practicing the script

Jason Kelce's podcast comments re: tush push were used to support banning the play this wk. Multiple sources said Bills owner Terry Pegula mentioned/joked about Kelce's retirement when standing up in favor of GB's proposal. GB president Mark Murphy also referred to Kelce:

My fav proposal that will go to vote at owner's meeting next wk: bringing back unlimited manipulation of kicker balls!!
each team has a secret method they use to prep a K ball but since 1999, teams have only been allowed 2 hrs 15 min to work them up: www.si.com/nfl/2019/01/...
