@alessandro Sounds like Canada is one of the few sane countries left…🇨🇦✨

@alessandro indeed, the only reason Marcus was cool was
a. He was not the “real” son and not entitled
b. He was given power and not attained it (I believe those that natural seek power are usually unfit to wield it)
In China’s case they are trying to implement it without the idiot son danger […]

@alessandro Lastly, the reaction I get when I tell ppl i was at Lake Como vs in Guilin is everything I need to know about how racist most everyone is tbh 😅 tourism narrative is also A Whole Thing. And Guilin and surroundings are objectively more impressive having been to both now.
kangaroo5383.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gy
@alessandro I’m of course not set on this opinion tbh just like I’m not definitively against “philosopher king” vs democracy as I see merits and danger in both 😗

Also 💯💯💯💯 to your point about traveling, was it anthony bourdain who said that traveling makes you less racist? But yeah that man is […]

@alessandro this is a thoroughly accurate analysis, the only thing I mildly disagree on is the impact of manufactured consent vs enforced consent. I think US is trending towards both manufactured AND enforced rn 😅 also the illusion of choice is imo worse? In some vague moral terms - because […]

@alessandro yeah ironically I lean more anarcho syn the last i checked😅

For my curiosity which aspects would you consider “oppressive”?

I think there’s also the idea of manufactured consent vs overt dictated consent that should be considered (if you read Chomsky?)

Also surveillance is also […]

@alessandro that’s a great topic tbh. Plato also compared the benefits of “philosopher king” vs the cost of democracy which we are witnessing in the US.

Not surprisingly some ugly comments on the post already proving my point about double standards and hypocrisy. Biased narratives are biased.

Also green energy seems to be a huge thing here, just about every motorbike and large % of cars are electric 😯 🌲

“According to data from the UNEP’s […]

Travel tips:
Service industry in China is pretty awesome, probably some of the best I’ve seen. There’s butler service at pretty much every 4star hotel, instantly reachable via text. No more calling the front desk or anyone!

Conclusion: being here and seeing […]

PSA for anyone who still have grandparents around - just hang with them while you can, play cards, do random things, talk about nothing, before it’s too late… even if there are other fam you loath around, ignore them and hang with the grandparents before it’s too late.

Travel adventures (or PSA)

Apparently air travel in China forbid power banks made in China 💀

Now I have to go hunt an approved powerbank in this airport.

Plus side: the security people are super insanely patient and nice and arranged mailing my power banks to my hotel (yes I have 2 as liquid […]

@cdf1982 o ic, Hong Kong is about the same tbh, it’s literally off on its own island about 1.5hrs away from the main parts.

Current issue is this other city I’m in it has so far taken about 4 hours to travel 10km

Travel pro tip: always book fixed rate airport transfers in new places.

This 45min ride turning into a 6hr traffic jam ordeal is the definition of getting your $ worth 🥲

@deborahh it is a sobering journey to realize that a lot of ppl don’t actually grasp the concepts behind words and yet still use words confidently out of context. AI content is often an interesting litmus test… kinda remind me of the study on “pseudo profound bs”

@fivetonsflax there’s some interesting tidbit from ancient philosophy… there’s a chinese proverb

@wjmaggos great point about education, i remember reading about “inoculating” against cognitive biases like this by preempting exposures with a real understanding that it’s a definite possibility to watch out for etc. o look…philosophy, psychology, the “soft” sciences that ppl say are useless 🥲
