Samesies; 2025 was a huge rebuild, 1yr ago I was at the nadir (knock on wood) & on track to end up divorced, and likely dead if I’m being honest.

That was the foundational work and now I’m doing all of the things I didn’t think I could do, and I want everyone to have that same chance. Better world.

In their (very funny and readable) book on screenwriting, Thomas Lennon and Ben Garant make the point that before writing a spec script, a writer should first ask themselves, “Is my premise at least as fun as Die Hard?” If not, “Go write a book, while gazing longingly into the moor.”

Not my fav movie but in my top 5 Xmas movies. I also think it’s the platonic ideal of a tight screenplay w/ no fat on it, and also the bar for action movies - there are *better* action movies, but it’s the purity test ( makes sense as it was among first to employ things that later became tropes)

TONY KHAN EFFECTIVELY HAS INFINITE MONEY THAT IS NOT TIED TO A PUBLIC COMPANY. THE FAMILY HAS LIKE 13 BN DOLLARS AND IS CONSTANTLY GENERATING MORE FROM SHAD’S PATENT.
