some designers have incorporated these ideas into clothes. kapital does a boro jacket (pic 1). 11.11 has kantha shorts (pic 2) and capsule collection at NYC's Nepenthes using scrap Engineered Garments fabric (pic 3). if you're timid, bedspread is easiest

kantha is a south asian technique for recycling scrap fabric. it was originally used at a time when fabric was very precious. the technique involves attaching layers of scrap material using a running stitch (pics 1, 2 and 3). it's similar to japanese boro (pic 4).

I've also been into Percia Verlin's YouTube channel. You can see how the videos here aren't strictly gendered. Ideas such as "Tokyo fashion" and "city boy aesthetic" (which is basically Japanese Americana) can be worn by anyone.
