Does anyone use #RedCap for child participant database management? If so, would you be willing to share screenshots etc. of what your user interface looks like or share the template, whichever is easier.

When you have to wake up at 5am just to focus on something before the deluge of emails start, you gotta question what we're doing here, #AcademicSky.

Good question! It probably makes time feel like it's passing more quickly, as other work suggests that the more separate "events" we experience in the same time period, the faster time seems to move. Think of when you work a busy shift vs. when there are no customers - time drags during the latter.

This "temporal dedifferentiation" may reflect older adults' tendency to hold on to previously attended information, even as tasks or scenes change.

Blurring information across time may be bad for memory, but put older adults at an advantage whenever the past helps you predict the future. 🤔🧠🎥 🎞️

Can border agent: "You bought how many bags of Goldfish?!? Please step out of the car, sir." 😂

Dipped across the border yesterday to give a talk at SUNY Buffalo.

Deleted social media from my phone, but all for nothing. The Canadian border guard was the bigger pain. 🙄
"you spent $50 on candy?"
Yes! What of it!?!! 🤣

Wow, you are the GOAT. Though for your brain's sake, I'm hoping for no change! Or at least a return to baseline! Good luck.

Glad you're okay! I have often wondered what % of accidents are caused by a small % of people.

🚨BREAKING NEWS: Congresswoman files articles of impeachment against RFK Jr. We've been sounding the alarm for months, sending 3k+ quack-o-grams, and collecting 25k petition signatures calling on our reps to impeach & remove RFK Jr.

We’re closing in on him. Help us WIN the fight. 🦆 zurl.co/vkZQV
Poster-style graphic with bold text reading “TELL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES: THE QUACK RFK Jr. HAS TO GO!” A large photo of RFK Jr. is overlaid with a yellow biohazard sign, while a man’s shoe is about to kick him out. At the bottom, logos and text say “Stand Up For Science” and “Fuel the fight: standupforscience.net.”

A few strategies I use:
1. Talk with students about how: 1) AI tends to produce work that is at best mediocre and at worst just wrong, 2) using AI habitually weakens the critical thinking skills that make college valuable, and 3) AI exploits environmental resources and content creators.

I cannot tell you how grim the AI in higher ed situation is. Many of the students have completely surrendered to letting AI do their homework, badly, I might add. How do you fix this? Truly, what the hell do we do, beyond what grading can address, which isn't a solution?

At a high-school info session about postsecondary education yesterday, at which the guidance counselor said:
1. Universities are businesses ❌️
2. They just want your money ❌️

The Ford government certainly thinks so, but I'd expect a teacher to know that isn't our main mission. 🙄

Watched 'The Social Network' with my 15 & 12yo over the weekend. It was fun to hear their reactions to birth of social media, as they've never known a world without it.🤯

Takeaways:
1. Mark Zuckerberg is a dick.
2. Ads did make Facebook uncool.
3. Tech bros shouldn't have so much 💵, they're too bro.

I am fascinated by this guy who was a Higher Ed administrator and has now moved into teaching classes as a faculty member. He is documenting his whole journey on TikTok. Over the summer, he had so much excitement 🧵
