I get your general point and that you were going for humor, but “the Believer” is the name of an actual, real quarterly that publishes arts criticism and high quality longform journalism, and they don’t deserve to catch this stray.

He's also misstating the law. The shitty section of the INA that would allow him to say this applies to noncitizen residents, not Mr. Mubashir, who is a citizen.

These people are nuts, but you're repeatedly giving them exactly what they want. They want to believe being too online is activism, and getting reposted into 80k feeds is the biggest impact they have on the discourse.

I have a friend who lives 4 blocks away, who checks almost every single demographic box I do: income, age, religion, civic participation, education, down to the age of our kids and the kind of car we drive. When I say "almost" every box, I'm white, he's Asian, and his wife is an immigrant. 2/
