Colonization, boarding schools, and stealing children happened to deliberately remove Indigenous people from rosters, and we still have gatekeepers. Seems like some Natives want to carry water for colonizers.

Which ones? Over 500 Federally recognized nations/tribes, and probably that many more without Federal recognition. All with different cultures, traditions, societal norms, and styles of government.

For the record, I refer to myself as "Native". Many Indigenous people in my social circles do.

Native Americans call it Turtle Island, based on our creation stories.

Tried to argue IN COURT that Native Americans are not citizens of the US.

I mean, I manage to talk all day long to classes of students without a teleprompter. I didn't realize it was a magnificent feat or anything. Maybe I should demand a raise!

When the average American thinks we ride home on our buffalo, to arrive at our teepee (deliberate misspelling), and pop on our feathered hat while we toke and drink, it's no surprise that they don't understand that we have actual treaties with the US government. Let alone understand WHY.
