Not to mention performing arts! The UK has some of the best talent in the world in film and TV. Not just actors but producers, lighting, ADs, makeup, costume, casting. High-end production companies come from around the world to make stuff here. Performing arts is a *massive industry for Britain*.

The last phase was particularly unexpected!
Also, I have been researching Thomas Nelson the publisher from the publishing side, but I didn't know printing was such a coveted career above others in Edinburgh.?

And it's fascinating - a really good read!

There is no researcher more desperate than a researcher who can only read with one eye, when the screw has fallen out of their glasses on the reading side ...
Mending them wearing old glasses was ... challenging!

One can pay for online appointments privately, I think? Not your OWN GP surgery, assuredly, but I'm sure I heard of such services 🤔

Oh dear! Doesn't even look tempting ...

It's grant application time, which seems to require a lot of descents to the kitchen for coffee! @iashedinburgh.bsky.social
Staircase up to IASH office. (Downstairs with empty cup, upstairs refuelled with coffee!)

#Historians #LocalHistorians Do you do #OralHistories? Curious to know if you use any kind of automated transcription software? What would you recommend? And do you have a favourite recording device?
I'd be very grateful for recommendations, thanks!

Interesting. Not a lot we can do, though, I guess?

And there I was, believing that everyone had their work-life-digital life balanced and was just closing their phones at 18.00 ...

I've somehow made this house look like some kind of fantasy fairytale. I blame my choice of #embroidery thread!

Turning into quite a research morning. Great start to the week, attending an online seminar. But then, from the sublime to the ridiculous - a house visit. The ratcatcher says I saw a mouse, not a rat. Phew! Back to my desk, but I have an #earworm, Windmill in Old Amsterdam
