We're all human, there are miscommunications, things get missed, sometimes you just don't have all the relevant information. But that message doesn't suit anyone's agenda when its the BBC.

When a government effectively holds the purse strings and can make political appointments to the board, that is about control not surrender. Read up on Stuart Young, Alisdair Milne and what happened after Young died - Thatcher at her worst.

Because over decades they have been bullied by UK governments of every political persuasion. This has taken different forms, from political appointments to the board, threats to withhold funding, not renew the charter & the weaponisation of the press. As a result they've been cowed into submission.
