Yeah, it’s hard! Because when they meet someone who speaks English they’re hoping they can practice! Don’t give up! Hopefully you’ll get to a point where you’ll be able to get by and they’ll appreciate that you spoke their language!

I have the problem where
I (with terrible Japanese) often get talked at but my husband (not Japanese but fluent) has to do all the talking and I’m pretty sure they’re trying to work out how this male voice is coming out of my mouth even though I’m not flapping my lips.😵‍💫

It definitely is! I have spoken to a whole bunch of my friends and they have reassured me that it’s unlikely my fault and not to beat myself up over it. Still, it’s sad because it was (in my opinion) and flourishing friendship. Thanks for your kind words. And I’ll do my best to heal!

I actually ask the same question myself! I usually trace my drawings onto watercolor paper because I don’t like constantly erasing linework (and ruining the paper!). But with these, I drew directly on the paper. I used a light (hard pencil) so something like 2H. I wouldn’t use a soft pencil like B.
