Jupiter chews on the flocked tree in my office. Bad for me. Bad for the tree. Bad for the cat. Today I fashioned a tree skirt of foil and solved the problem!
I’d always assumed the origin of the verb foil was fencing. Not so. It’s from using aluminum foil to deter troublesome cats.

When I was growing up, this building in San Diego’s Balboa Park was one of my mom’s favorites. In recent years, they’ve been renovating, but during my visit this week, I finally got to see the beautiful reveal!
