Not only to Dragon itself, also LC-40, certain Falcon 9 components at the time. And include all this in risk evaluation and management...

It's a bit more complicated than this, there were some good reasons for shutting down some reactors, both economical and ecological. If it might have been better to keep the last three running for a bit longer is open to debate, but it would have been difficult to turn the decision around in 02/22.

Some yes, but others don't.

True - this goes (and already went under the last Administration) high up into top management. And you have a few SpaceX fanboys on ops level as well...

I am afraid quite a few of them don't have enough real interest in politics, economy and social developments, are too much limited to listening to a certain spaceflight bubble lead by influencers. What is telling for me is that Mark Kelly hasn't signed... He for sure has a broader overview.

And a large group of former astronauts supports the latter, obviously blind to the implemented risks for NASA. Really disappointing that some people I rated highly like Peggy Whitson and others fell for this.

I am really surprised how many people signed this letter. None of them seems to have had a deeper look into Isaacman's ideas and plans for NASA, not to talk about some of his general political positions. Unfortunate that his influencer supported campaign obviously worked even there...

I guess it depends both on the type of the damage and also the real urgency of getting it sorted. And as I understand it, there is no damage to the basic structure of the launch pad and tower, but to one particular movable part of it. So I am not that pessimistic.

Please check Katya on X, more details and less propaganda.

Hope to be able to do so - not easy!

By the way in the Chinese stream during the landing they said that the damage was minor so the capsule in case of an emergency could have been used for a a return (like with Starliner), otherwise they could and would have sent up the replacement that was on stand-by even earlier.
November 26, 2025 at 1:36 AM
What a ton of BS! Really disappointing a journalist spreading this kind of nonsense without understanding anything about the completely different situation, about mission planning in human spaceflight, etc.
November 25, 2025 at 11:44 PM
In the Chinese stream during the landing it was emphazised that the damage was small enough to use it in case of an emergency (like always said with Starliner). Otherwise they would have sent the replacement which was always sitting there for such a situation earlier.

November 19, 2025 at 10:19 PM
November 19, 2025 at 10:19 PM

Let's hope so - but I am not completely convinced unfortunately. German mentality towards faschism is different from for example Scandinavian countries, acceptance much deeper ingrained in a larger part of the population. Was only hidden for quite some time, now coming out again full scale.

I was not sure if it was still absolutely zero as a few years ago, but I know that non of my friends from the old days who are maximum lower middle class ever had problems to get their medications. Only problem with SUS can be waiting time sometimes - but that's the same about everywhere by now...
November 15, 2025 at 2:40 PM
