Long term, as a true cult of personality, I would bet it dies. But it will take a bit of time, and the interim will be defined by an all-consuming war for control. Nobody in the upper echelons of the cult has the charisma to truly control it, but many will desperately try. It will be very ugly.

And all the technical, maintenance and support folks should be second - about 20 years later. The tidying up would be a mess, but it will be worth it.

I think I do. I find it hard to credit you writing things that are "not good"! But I do get what you're saying. And I will keep trying. Not for anybody else to see, just for me.

Kind of a footnote to that is that I did (and do) some real writing since then. I'm not good at that either, but I created a single poem I loved about my truest self. I deleted it in a time of depression, and I regret it to this day, even though I doubt it was objectively good either.

Hate to admit it, but I played with AI "art" a while back - I was seduced by being able to "create" when I had ideas but no skill to implement them. Finally, I came to the realization that I wasn't creating a damn thing and someone with no talent should just enjoy the work of others who can.

I can vouch for this too. I have ideas nearly constantly, some of which might be awesome in the hands of an actual artist. But in my non-artistic hands, they will forever remain unrealized ideas. If I called myself a great artist (or one at all) because I had them, I'd be deluding myself.

Absolutely! This is one of the reasons I think it's an awful idea to even try to compare my situation to anybody else's. It just isn't my place to decide whether I'm better or worse off than they are. No matter the conclusion I come to, I'm probably wrong and I risk shortchanging their experience.

My general feeling about Rose, Bonds, Clemens, etc. is that they should NOT be in the Hall of Fame.
But IF they are inducted into it, at least 2/3 of their display in the Hall should be devoted to what they did that tarnished the game. Their accomplishments on the field should be a footnote.

Right there with you. I actually play a few MMORPGs, but I NEVER interact with others unless I just have to in order to progress in the game. And even then, it is the minimum possible. I love people, but not in my games 🤪
