Genetic sex testing in sport violates MANY laws - bioethics, genetic non-discrimination, data privacy, etc. - in MANY jurisdictions. These tests have no medical purpose, functioning instead as a discriminatory contractual condition, thus vitiating consent and misusing protected data. Read more:

World Athletics and World Boxing have instituted genetic sex testing as a precondition for competing in the women’s category.

It's also not correct to call this non-invasive. A dry blood draw is also on the table. Both methods require sharing one's DNA, which can violate privacy in several ways, particularly regarding how genetic data is collected, stored, shared, and potentially misused.

We are back to 1967 when the IAAF first used cheek swabs for "sex determination." They later rejected swabs for being unscientific --chromosomes alone do not indicate sex--and an invasion of privacy. Now they've decided to revive this horrible practice and relive the worst parts of its history.

Last was "Testosterone: An Unauthorized Biography" by Rebecca Jordan-Young & @karkazis.bsky.social. This book does double duty - accounting for the biological effects of t and the heavily biased research and discussion in the area. Highly recommend

WA is asking stakeholders for consultation but they are expected to be implemented later this year.

WA said the cheek-test proposal was based on the special rapporteur’s report on female eligibility to the UN General Assembly. This report is filled with transphobia and ignores the many orgs and experts saying how these practices violate human rights.

Under current rules, women with intersex variations have to undergo testosterone suppression for 2 years to be eligible--a requirement many have said violates multiple human rights. Now they would be banned too.

Doubling down on their sexism and women's inherent inferiority they add that the “athletic disadvantages associated with female body structure and physiology contribute to the performance gap.”

In 2023 World Athletics banned women who transitioned after puberty. Now they want to ban all trans women & most women with intersex variations claiming "males" have an “already an athletically significant performance gap before the onset of puberty."
