Very excited to finally share this! In this new study with co-investigators @rogierk.bsky.social and Mara Cercignani, we are following 300 children longitudinally between 6 months and 5 years to establish the building blocks of cognition and their neural foundations.

The deadline for applications is 20th October and the application form is fairly short. Unfortunately, at this point I am not able to respond to individual emails (sorry!), but if you think you have a strong CV that is relevant to this or other GW4 projects, I encourage you to apply.

This project is part of the GW4 doctoral training programme, which includes many other cool PhD projects too (see link in thread below).

and too many times I have read bland, uninspiring (even soul-less) content generated by AI. I am sure there are ways you can start from an AI 'draft' and then work it into something that's yours, but I'm not sure following that process would save me any time compared to just writing it myself.

I know AI can produce pleasant (even impressive) and grammatically perfect text, but it wouldn't be MY text. Since the proposal was about MY ideas and my research, it just felt like it had to come from me, with my 'voice'. AI doesn't know or understand why I am thinking -

Today, for the first time, I felt tempted to use AI to draft a short research proposal. I had got deadlines mixed up and only had the afternoon to write the proposal. In the end, I didn't use AI -

There's a lot of terrible things happening in the world right now, but this little gem of a story on the BBC made me giggle 🤭https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c62zxjy0j91o - I hope the Kingdom of Kubala can find somewhere else to stay..

I guess you get used to it? - it just seems so strange to me that people can walk around with a weapon that can almost instantly kill several people around them

In the BBC News this morning they mentioned (in connection with the Charlie Kirk assassination) that at the University of Utah people are allowed to carry guns. This just blows my mind. If I saw somebody with a gun in my university, I would run/hide and call the police!

For Tilly, who would have turned 15 years old today. I always wear the silver locket with two tiny pictures of her. Miss her always, but most of all on her birthday.
