America’s Right-Wing Propaganda Problem Might Be Terminal - Dame Magazine
America’s descent into mass delusion isn’t happenstance. The demise of courageous journalism isn’t a happy accident. Its replacement with engagement-chasing infotainment and propaganda isn’t an error....

It's so fucking annoying

there's no limit of examples

"holding a dumbass cinnabon employee accountable for being a racist asshole is an attack on the working class" is pseudo-intellectual trolling cack that should never make it past the editors desk

but you don't get these jobs on merit, and engagement of any kind is king, so around and around we go

It's also the contrarian troll game. Saying dumb shit gets backlash and traffic, and it's lazy cack.

Gigi Sohn did and you saw what happened to her when she tried to get Congressional confirmation to the FCC

it makes you feel isolated and insane, quite by design

It 100% has to be foundational to the platform or the politician is wasting all of our time. To his credit, Biden tried with Khan.

I'm utterly fascinated with the fact we've built a hollow simulacrum of actual journalism that, due to consolidate corporate and billionaire ownership (and right wing and gamesmanship), is utterly incapable of being honest with itself or its readership about what's actually going on
December 12, 2025 at 4:19 PM
and then maybe a 2028 presidential win where it's come centrist/corporatist like Mark Kelly who doesn't have the interest in doing any of the things we actually need to do to untether corporate power from our government

Like it's not like the Trump 2.0 corporate alliance has been subtle about this? Firing Democratic FTC Commissioners for no reason? Building a corrupt court system that undermines EVERY federal regulatory enforcement attempt across consumer protection? Maybe worth a mention? No?

yeah that plays into it as well. When they DO do good things the press and their shitty messaging fucks things up.

ARPA was great, but dems sucked at messaging and the press doesn't care about infrastructure (and amplifies Republican lies), so nobody knew about it

they can generally hint at inflation, or tariffs, but the fact that consolidated corporate lobbying influence has hollowed out consumer protection like a fucking pumpkin NEVER enters into the conversation at ANY of these major outlets. Ever.

it's utterly surreal.
